CAMPBELL'S RUN ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT:

CAMPBELL'S RUN ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT - DETOUR UPDATE:  9/1/2016

Lexington Court is closed at this point except for local traffic, meaning residents.  Please follow official detour route posted.

Allegheny County is closing Campbell’s Run Road between Highland Avenue and Newell Street on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. With the short notice, the Chief and the Mayor have been working diligently since last week to make sure they keep the detour traffic in the Lexington Court and other Carnegie residential areas to a minimum. The official detour route is Baldwin Road to Rosslyn Road to the Parkway. They have requested the following items from the County and the Contractor and are awaiting their implementation:

  • Better signage that indicates “Local Traffic Only” at both ends of the detour – at Baldwin & Campbell's Run Road, and Campbell's Run Road & Mansfield Boulevard.
  • Temporary Speed Humps in the Lexington Court area.  They have been ordered and will be installed in about two weeks).
  • An Emergency Services Plan of Action.

As for the Borough, stop signs have been added at the Newell intersection. The “No Outlet” sign will be relocated at the bridge for better visibility, and there will be a Police officer at the Mansfield intersection starting Thursday, July 27, 2016 in the morning to monitor the detour.

This road stabilization project is expected to last eight to ten months. This is a major inconvenience, but everything is being done to address any possible traffic problems. Even so, there will be some issues that cannot be prevented.  If there are any issues that the Police Department needs to be made aware of, please call (412) 276-6911 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you immediately need an Officer for any reason call 911 to request one.

The project will conclude in August 2016.

Fort Pitt Tunnel Ceiling Removal Four weekend closures (two in each direction) remain on the Fort Pitt Tunnel Ceiling Removal Project. Completed work on the project includes tunnel ceiling removal, concrete repairs to the tunnel walls, waterline and standpipe improvements, electrical updates, drainage upgrades and reroofing of the north portal building. In 2016, beam flange painting and paving operations will require the weekend closures which will occur in April and May.
