Attention Dog Owners:
Please make sure that your dog is on a leash!

  • August 4-11, 2017 rabies vaccine baits are being distributed across Allegheny County, especially in parks.

  • Although these baits will not harm your dog, if they eat too many they can get an upset stomach and/or diarrhea.
  • Please avoid contact with these baits.
  • Use a latex glove or plastic bag if the baits must be moved.
Click Here for more information about the baits and the project.

If you have any questions or concerns about the baits or vaccine, please call 1-800-722-6725. If you have any questions about the baiting process, please call 412-350-4046. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The Carnegie Borough Department of Public Works is essential to all aspects of maintenance with regard to the municipality. Their jobs do not only entail the removal of leaves, yard waste and snow removal, but much more. Our Department of Public Works is not only responsible for black topping, road paving, and street sweeping, but also maintenance of the Municipal Building, road painting, lighting, and signage throughout the municipality. They are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Carnegie Park, the Seventh Avenue Ballfield, and Chioda Field. To their dedication, the Department took on the responsibility of rebuilding the retaining walls, dug outs and press box at Chioda Field for the 2016 season. We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated Public Works Department.

Leaf, Yard and Tree Trimming Collection

NO GRASS clippings are collected at any time. The Carnegie Department of Public Works collects leaves curbside on a weekly basis. Leaves Only! Twigs, sticks and branches clog the leaf collection equipment. Please rake your leaves to the curb -- NOT INTO THE STREET -- as this can create a slippery situation for vehicles and/or create a storm water management problem.  Final curbside leaf pickup is the last week in November.

Residents may place bagged leaves and yard waste at the curb, but only in proper bags. Bushes, hedges and tree trimmings need to be securely bundled. No loose material will be taken. Residents should call the Department of Public Works at (412) 276-0111 to schedule pickup of yard residue.

Plastic bags or sacks are acceptable containers provided the bags are designated for waste disposal. Plastic bags must be strong enough to maintain physical integrity when lifted. The bags shall be securely tied at the top for collection, and a capacity of not more than 30 gallons or loaded weight of not more than 35 pounds. Yard waste shall be drained free of liquids before being placed in proper bags. NO garbage or other putrid waste can be included. Bags must be securely wrapped and/or properly tied.
